Where can I take an avalanche course?

You can attend avalanche courses with many providers. We are full-time mountain guides and travel a lot in snow-covered terrain and know very well how to assess the situation and what tools are available to make decisions. We share our knowledge with you empathetically and with great pleasure.

Do I have to know how to ski for the avalanche course?

In the avalanche course we go on a short ski tour in winter terrain. So yes, to get back down you need to know how to ski a bit.

Can I also come to the avalanche course with a splitboard?

Splitboards are welcome. There is no disadvantage in the avalanche course whether you come with skis or a splitboard.

Can the avalanche course be taken with snowshoes?

Basically we do a short ski tour in the avalanche course and there it is better to come with the skis or the board to come down again. In exceptional cases it is okay to come with snowshoes only. But you have to contact us briefly.

What types of avalanches are there?

There are three types of avalanches: Dust avalanche Loose snow avalanche Slab avalanche (this is the most relevant avalanche for skiers and ski tourers)

How do avalanches occur?

The following five conditions are required for an avalanche: Weak layer in the snow cover Bound snow over the weak layer (board) Wide distribution of weak layer and board Slope inclination over 30° Additional load (usually one person)

What comes as standard with the equipment?

It is always part of your equipment, even if you are travelling alone: Avalanche transceiver (LVS) Shovel Sone An airbag rucksack is not standard, but is almost always worn when freeriding.

When should you take an avalanche course?

Everyone who regularly goes off-piste in the snow should complete an avalanche course. This also includes regular training in the use of standard equipment, avalanche transceivers, probes and shovels.
