Highlights

The Calanques offer incredibly beautiful rock formations. Limestone walls rise directly out of the sea and have many handholds, holes and passages. You can wind your way through the rock and enjoy the view of the sea while feeling the warmth of the south of France in autumn. At all levels of difficulty, we can climb directly from the sea to the rock and then enjoy the warm sea afterwards! What more could you want?

Climbing trip

Thanks to the TGV, the Calanques can be easily reached by train from Switzerland. With one change of trains, you can be in Marseilles in around 7 hours. Once there, we travelled flexibly in a van. We visit a great new climbing area every day. There are beautiful multi-pitch routes directly from the sea with traverses, holes and simply fantastic scenery! We spend the night in the pretty village of Cassis right by the sea. Our accommodation is a maisonette with double rooms and has a lovely garden and terrace where we can enjoy our peace and quiet. The harbour and the town's culture are just a few minutes' walk away, so we can visit various restaurants as we please or even organise a small barbecue in our garden.

  • Touring area

Cassis is right next to Marseilles and we will be climbing in the Calanques. The routes range from 4c, many in the 5th degree of difficulty and of course always open at the top 😉 We will reach the best spots by car in around 30 minutes.
