We will teach you how to apply your knowledge of avalanches and snowpack structure in the terrain and develop the expertise you need to make independent decisions on a ski tour. You already know the basics of avalanche awareness and would like to refresh and deepen your knowledge. We go on a leisurely ski tour and review the basics of avalanche awareness and expand your understanding and tools. This way we can experience a great ski tour and refresh and expand your knowledge about avalanches and decisions in a practical way.

It is advisable to attend an avalanche theory evening (Zurich, Bern, Churonline). This makes it easier to understand the subject matter.

  • Venue & meeting point

We adapt the venue to the prevailing conditions and weather. The aim is to hold the course at a location that is easily accessible by public transport. Possible locations are Central Switzerland (Engelbergertal / Andermatt) and Eastern Switzerland (Glarus or Nordbünden). We may go to the Oberalp Pass at the beginning of the season or use the infrastructure of a ski resort (possibly Engelberg).

  • Course content

During this training day, we will repeat the basics (rescue exercise) and delve deeper into selected topics of avalanche awareness and snowpack structure. In this way we strengthen our own decision-making on tours. We organise applied training. It is important to us to provide practical training in the terrain and to experience a cool ski tour at the same time.
