Basic course climbing climbing hall
Learn the basics of climbing in this course - as preparation for climbing outside on the rock!
Climbing: a wonderful sport in the horizontal. Try out movements and move through the air secured by a rope. You will learn the basics in this basic course in the climbing hall. You will learn the basics of belaying in top rope and lead climbing and collect your first climbing metres.
Building on this course, you can attend the Climbing course in the climbing garden outside on the rock take part!
Course content and possible programme
- Evening: Basics and top rope climbing
- We get to know each other while warming up in the bouldering area
- Roping technique and belay devices
- Partner check
- Procedure for belaying in toprope climbing
- Evening: Repetition and introduction to lead climbing
- Today we warm up on the automatic belay devices (Toppas) and take a look at the rules of behaviour and handling of them
- Repetition & details of top rope climbing
- Assisted setup and learning to lead climb (lead climbing)
- Clipping the expresses
- Handling the belay device
- Commands
- Partner Check
- Behaviour in the climbing hall
- Evening: Repetition of lead climbing and falling while climbing
- We repeat the basics of lead climbing and warm up
- The subject of falls:
- How to fall into the rope
- How to dynamically secure a fall
- 3 phases of securing
- Finalisation and disposal by level, what happens next
- Conclusion with a joint aperitif
- Evening: Basics and top rope climbing
Venue & meeting point
- This course takes place in one of Zurich's climbing gyms. Depending on where the participants are coming from, we organise the course in one of the following halls:
- Milandia on Lake Greifensee
- 6a+ in Winterthur
- Grip in Uster
- 3 evenings from 18.30 to 20.30

Requirements
- You do not need any previous knowledge
- Interest in climbing and learning how to handle ropes
Group size
- Takes place with up to 6 guests per mountain guide.
Price and services
- Including group equipment such as ropes, carabiners and belay devices
- Excluding travelling expenses, hall admission, rental equipment
