The Engadin with its icons such as the Piz Palü and the Piz Bernina together with the Morteratsch glacier literally invite you to go mountaineering. We immerse ourselves in this material and learn and experience our first alpine tours! We organise the course in two stages: Rock and ice training around the Bovalhütte and then the Piz Palü practice tour from the Diavolezza mountain inn. We immerse ourselves in this fascination and learn the techniques of mountaineering together and apply them. In this rock and ice course you will learn the basic skills of mountaineering.

Course content and possible programme
1. Day: Rock basics
  
  Getting to know each other and cosy hut ascent (~1.5h)
  
  Moving and belaying in the rock
  
  Materials science
2. Day: Rock deepening on an easy application tour
  
  Short rope, micro rope lengths and rope lengths on an easy application tour
  
  Abseiling on high tours
  
  Tour planning for the next day
3. Day: Application tour Isla Persa with ice training
  
  Ice and firn technique with ice axe and crampons
  
  Topic crevasses and behaviour on the glacier
4. Day: Piz Palü application tour and descent
  
  Repetition and consolidation of the various techniques
  
  Application tour and descent via Diavolezza and railway journey back to Morteratsch
Venue & meeting point
- Meeting point: 10.20 Morteratsch railway station (to coincide with the train connection)
- Conclusion: approx. 14.30, to coincide with the bus connection
- Overnight stay: two nights in the Boval hutone night in the Diavolezza mountain inn
Requirements
- No previous experience is necessary.
- Experience in hiking and walking in pathless terrain is an advantage.
- Condition for high altitude tours with around 1000hm ascent and descent at a comfortable pace (~300hm/h).
Group size
- Takes place with 4 - 6 guests per mountain guide.
Price and services
- CHF 1140.-
- Including planning and realisation with mountain guide and his travel expenses.
- Including accommodation costs with half board.
- Excluding travel expenses, personal consumption.
- Rental equipment: crampons, helmet, ice axe, climbing harness can be hired for this offer from the Sport Trend Shop in Hinwil can be hired at a special price of CHF 55. You can also get other mountain sports equipment there with the best advice.
