The northern edge of Piz Badile is an alpine classic - and quite rightly so: this elegant line stretches 1000 metres through compact, grippy granite up to the beautifully shaped summit. Harmonious, exposed and in a breathtaking setting - anyone who climbs here immediately understands why this tour is at the top of many people's wish list.

The climbing is consistently enjoyable, flowing and never too demanding. Fine slabs, grippy cracks and perfectly structured rock make every pitch an experience. Technically, the tour remains in the moderate range (up to 5a), but requires solid basic fitness, alpine flair and a good dose of stamina.

On the first day, we climb from Bondo through the green Val Bondasca to the hut. On the climbing day itself, we set off early - in the light of our headlamps, we leave the last trees behind us and climb over slabs and boulders to the start. Then the adventure begins: pitch after pitch we follow the clear line of the north edge - always with breathtaking views down into the valley and of the surrounding mountain peaks. After reaching the summit, we descend via the normal route on the south side to the Gianetti hut and reward ourselves with a short break before continuing down to Bagni del Masino, where a taxi takes us back to Bondo.

This tour is more than just an impressive climb - it is an overall experience in the midst of magnificent scenery and unforgettable climbing. A day that lingers on. And a granite that is addictive.
