Basic rock climbing course | Climbing course with application day

On the first day, we will provide you with the knowledge you need to climb independently and safely in a climbing garden. Deepen and consolidate your knowledge on the second day together with our mountain guides. Learn rock climbing with us and be inspired!

On the first day, we will teach you rock climbing from A to Z. Learn how to tie in correctly, how to use quickdraws, how to properly secure your climbing partner while climbing and also practise various rope manoeuvres such as "redirecting and threading". On the second day, you will have time to repeat, apply and consolidate what you have learnt under the supervision and with the support of our expert mountain guides

 

  • Venue Ticino

    • Area: This course is planned to take place in Ticino. If necessary, we will remain flexible and adapt the location to the prevailing weather conditions.
  • Location Eastern Switzerland

    • The courses in Eastern Switzerland are planned in Ibergeregg, the Rhine Valley, Toggenburg or the Chur region. We remain flexible, if necessary we adapt the venue to the prevailing weather conditions.
    • Meeting point: Will be announced a few days before the course.
  • Location Central Switzerland/ Jura

    • The courses in Central Switzerland & Jura are planned in the Solothurn Jura or around Lake Lucerne. We remain flexible, if necessary we will adapt the location to the prevailing weather conditions.
    • Meeting point: Will be announced a few days before the course.
  • Course content

    • Day 1
      Rope and safety technology
      - Rope handling of the belayer(s)
      - Rope handling of the climber(s)
      - Handling quickdraws: Hooking into the bolt, clipping the rope correctly
      - Various clip options
      - Knotology
      - Partner check
      - Deflection and threading

     

    • Day 2
      The focus is on consolidating and applying what you have learnt under the supervision of a mountain guide. They will support you and give you valuable tips on belaying techniques, rope handling and rock climbing in general. The following points will also be covered on this day:
    • Materials science
      • Rope science - which rope is the right one?
      • Advantages and disadvantages of different equipment
      • Product test: Test different products so that you can familiarise yourself with the differences and know what to look out for when buying them
  • Requirements

    • You have learnt how to lead climb and belay in the hall and use this regularly.
      • You can also book private lessons in the hall. If you are interested, please send us a message using the contact form.
    • Stamina for short climbing tours with a leisurely ascent and descent
    • You climb a 4c in the hall
  • Group size

    • Takes place with up to 8 guests per mountain guide.
  • Price and services

    • CHF 390.- - 520.- (with or without accommodation costs)
    • Including planning and realisation with mountain guide and his/her travel expenses.
    • Excluding travel costs, any train tickets, personal consumption.

Information on endurance and technique

Here you will find an explanation of the levels of our courses and tours. If you are not sure whether the tour or course is suitable for you, then contact us!

Technics

Technique 1 - For beginners

An easy tour and suitable for beginners. The terrain is moderate.

Technique 2 - Normal tour

A "normal" tour and easily doable with some previous knowledge. Only short sections are a little steeper or more technical. This tour can be taken after a basic course.

Technique 3 - More demanding tour

A more challenging tour that requires some practice. There are some steep and technical passages. If you have a bit of experience and want to embark on an adventure, this is the right place for you!

Technique 4 - Difficult

Demanding tour that requires a good level of experience and skill. There are always longer steep and technical passages. For the experienced and adventurous!

Endurance

Stamina 1 - Cosy

Leisurely tour at a slow pace with 500 - 800 metres of altitude difference per day, ~250 - 300 hm / h.

Stamina 2 - Normal

"Normal" tour at a leisurely pace with 800 - 1000 vertical metres per day, ~300 hm / h.

Endurance 3 - Sporty

Longer tour at a normal pace with around 1200 metres in altitude per day, ~350 m / h.

Endurance 4 - Very enduring

Long tours at a normal, flowing pace from 1500 metres in altitude per day, ~350 - 400 hm / h.
