Ski tour to the Piz Medel

The Piz Medel is a great ski tour in the middle of the Greina Nature Park. An imposing glacier leads to the main summit of the Greina plain and, together with Verena and Jochen's superbly run Medelserhütte, it makes for a brilliant weekend! We meet in Disentis and travel together by taxi to the starting point. We continue into the valley and up to the Medelserhütte. After a delicious cake, we have the opportunity to take a short walk around the local mountain in front of the hut. After planning the tour in the evening, we set off early on the second day, with headlamps and a view of the stars and the moon. The sun soon rises and we climb steadily towards Piz Medel. The last section with ice axe and crampons over an easy firn ridge to the imposing summit cross. A long and varied descent with different variations takes us back to the valley and happily to the taxi park and home from there.
