Departure from Piz Medel

The crossing of the Greina plain with the Piz Medel is one of the most rewarding crossings in Bünderland. The Greina plain is very lonely and deserted and also offers magnificent touring terrain with many varied and impressive ascent and descent options. We climb from Curaglia or Fuorns to the Medelserhütte. This is idyllically situated on a small pass and the hut hosts Verena and Jochen are gifted chefs and super hospitable. The delicious cake in front of the large panoramic window tastes particularly good. We stay here for two nights, climb the Piz Medel via the glacier and the easy firn ridge and continue to the Terrihütte. We cross the Greina plain and enjoy the varied terrain. On the last day we leave the area in the direction of Val Lumnezia to Vrin, climb the Piz Ner with its great views and make another great turn into the valley where our taxi awaits us. With many good memories of magnificent descents, lonely ascents and a great community, we can comfortably start our journey home.

Accommodation

  • Medelserhütte

The Medelserhütte is idyllically situated on the pass in front of Piz Medel. It serves as the gateway to the beautiful Greina plain. The Medelserhütte is lovingly run by Verena and Jochen and the view from the panorama window is unique. Here you feel at home!

  • Terri hut

The Terrihütte is located in the Greina plain. In winter, the hut is usually unattended and you are completely alone here. Perfect for enjoying the peace and quiet of nature. We can cook and heat with wood in the unattended part and there are plenty of warm beds. When we are here in the unattended part, we cook together. We take the food with us from the Medelserhütte.
