Ascent on ski tours during Christmas and New Year

We go on great ski tours together and continuously improve your skills and repertoire. We deliberately choose great areas where there are more challenging tours and thus move from the comfort zone to the learning zone. The aim is to plan and carry out the tours together and always be accompanied by a mountain guide. In this way, we can constantly improve and expand our knowledge of avalanche danger, track layout, objective dangers and decision-making. Exciting and instructive tour days await you! We focus on the following topics on these tours and coaching sessions:

  • Tour planning: Selecting a suitable tour taking into account the prevailing conditions. Recognising key sections and planning alternatives.
  • Track layout and judgement in the terrain: Where do I climb and how do I plan the descent. Collect information on the tour. Compare planning and imagination with reality.
  • Individual slope assessment and downhill strategies: go or no-go for the individual slope, how to organise the group so that everyone feels comfortable and safe.
  • Where possible, we incorporate additional elements such as short abseils or fixed ropes to reach secluded and unspoilt spots.
  • Venue & meeting point

The ski touring coaching courses take place at different locations depending on the time of year. Generally, the meeting point is at around 9.00 to 10.00 and the course ends at around 15.00. The meeting points are easily accessible by public transport.

    • January: Spontaneously in the right place! We wait and decide in the week of the course on the most suitable place to hold it.
    • February: Rotondo, Realp. Here we have a great touring area in front of us. It offers everything for perfect powder slopes with lots of fresh snow or long descents with little ascent down to Goms or tours where we reach chambers with the rope that are still untracked.
    • March: Urnderboden. Thanks to the small railway, we can undertake ski tours with little ascent and a lot of descent, perhaps abseiling through a hole or reaching magnificent ski touring terrain via the imposing Teufelsjoch with via ferrata and abseiling.
    • March: Jenatsch. In March, we still find great snow and the best ski touring conditions on the Julier Pass near the Jenatschhütte. The area offers playful terrain and varied touring options.
