Mountain tour | Crossing the Silberplatten in the Säntis massif
Easy scrambling in wild surroundings, breathtaking and beautiful. With a far-reaching view from Piz Palü to Lake Constance.
The Silberplatten are striking rock formations in the Alpstein. Their pent roof-like summit is particularly striking in the evening due to its gleaming appearance. In front of the actual summit of the Silberplatten are the Silberplattenchöpf, a group of six rocky outcrops that extend from the Stosssattel to the summit of the Silberplatten. We cross them together and enjoy the unique atmosphere in the middle of the Säntis massif. The ascent is made easy thanks to the Säntis suspension railway, so we get off at mast two and are right in the middle of our adventure! The approach is via a short gully and we cross the towers. Easy passages alternate with 3-part climbs. From the first tower we abseil down to the next notch. A complete mountaineering tour in impressive, yet relatively easy terrain.
