Selun south pillar
Sharp limestone, wonderful views of Lake Walen and great and lonely climbing in 4th grade!
The south faces of the Churfirsten are impressive. They drop steeply down to Lake Walen and offer an airy ambience. Together we climb a relatively easy ascent through the south pillar to the Selun. We climb up 5 pitches on grippy limestone in the 4th degree of difficulty. The final ascent is on the ridge with a magnificent view of the Glarus mountains and Lake Walen far below! We simplify the approach with the rustic Selun railway. From here we climb up to the "Rappenloch", where we abseil down and reach the start. The descent is a leisurely walk back along the hiking trail. What a tour with a magnificent ambience!
